The Most Important Book
Yuri and her classmate Amy were talking about reading.
‘What’s your favorite book?’ said Amy.
‘Uh, I don’t have one because I don’t really read much everyday.’ Yuri replied.
‘You mean you don’t read your Bible?’ Amy asked shockingly.
‘I don’t have a Bible, plus, when I used to have one, I couldn’t find anything interesting in there.’ Yuri sighed.
‘Hmm,’ is all Amy said.
The next day, when the two girls met after class, Amy opened her bag, and gave her a box wrapped in wrapping paper.
‘Guess what’s in there!’ Amy said excitedly.
‘An iPad?’ Yuri guessed.
‘Nope,’ Amy shook her head.
‘Hmm, a notebook?’
‘No,’ Amy said.
‘Nope, nope, nope.’ Amy said.
‘I give up,’ Yuri said.
‘It’s…’ Amy said as she removed the wrapping paper. ‘a Bible!’
‘Uh, why would you give me a Bible?’ Yuri asked curiously as she just told her friend yesterday that she didn’t like reading.
‘Because,’ Amy started, ‘the Bible is the most important book, it contains God’s truths, promises, laws, and so much more.’
‘Then how come I couldn’t find anything interesting in it when I first read it?’ Yuri asked.
‘Because, when reading your Bible, you don’t just read the words. You have to follow and apply what it says. And God can also speak to you using the Bible.’ Amy explained. ‘You also have to pray so that God will help you understand. It’s not an ordinary book.’
Yuri nodded her head.
‘And now, that you have one, are you ready to start reading?’ Amy asked.
‘Of course!’ Yuri said happily. She was happy that she discovered the Bible because, the Bible is one of the most important ways how God wants to talk to us.
And guess what? When Yuri came home after school, that’s the first thing she did…
